The American Coco Gauf, 15 years old and 67th world player in the WTA classification, eliminated her compatriot Venus Williams (39 and 55) in the first round of the Australian Tennis Open, which takes place in Melbourne, defeating her in two sets, 7-6 (7/5) and 6-3.

Coco Gauf had already eliminated Venus Williams in the first round of the Wimbledon Open in 2019.

In the second round, Gauf will face the Romanian Sorana Cirstea, 74th world player in the classification of the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association).
