From streaming to cable. Disney + Hotstar’s original series Mortgage will begin on Monday, April 13, on Disney-owned TV channel Star Plus, representing a new programming strategy. This new world is brought into effect by the ongoing lockdown on film production globally. The 10-episode half-hour crime thriller The Hostage will take on the 10:30 pm IST slot, which relates to the paranormal thriller Nazar, with no new episodes in the air due to the coronovirus epidemic.
Nearly a year old at this point, Hostage – a remake of the Israeli series of the same name – aired on Disney + Hotstar in late May last year. Starring Tisca Chopra and Ronit Roy, it was directed by Sudhir Mishra. Like all the other Disney + Hotstar original series in India, to date, the hostages were poorly received, with critics calling it unfair and full of plot holes. The hostages have not been renewed for a second season.
Disney + Hotstar was unavailable for comment on whether the more Disney + Hotstar originals – which are branded as “Hotstar Specials”, although the stage has been a new name – would correspond to Star Plus.
The hostages are one of seven original series under the “Hotstar Special” banner, with geographic M.S. Dhoni the-series The Law of the Lion, the stigma column remake of Criminal Justice, the unbearable crime drama City of the Dreams produced by Nagesh Kukunoor, the shiny-worthy opposite remake of The Office, the shoddy scene-by-scene copy of Doctor Senior. Out of Love, and the action thriller Special Ops created by the inconsistent Neeraj Pandey.
ISI on Star Plus in India and UK on 13 April at 10:30 pm.
