Spin bowler Imran Tahir has won South Africa in many cricket matches in the last 10 years. However Imran Tahir started his cricketing career with Pakistan. Imran Tahir has said that it was disappointing for him to not make a place in the national team even after playing in different age group of Pakistan.
Tahir grew up in Lahore, Pakistan and lived in this city till 2005. He also played for the Pakistan Under-19 team and also represented Pakistan-A, but could not play for the senior team. He credits his wife Sumayya Dildar for coming to South Africa in 2005. After following the law of living in the country for four years, Tahir was eligible to play for South Africa.
Tahir has said goodbye to ODI cricket
Tahir has played 107 ODIs, 38 T20s and 20 Test matches for South Africa and has taken 173, 63 and 57 wickets respectively. After the ICC World Cup last year, he retired from his ODI career.
