The ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) of Singapore won the election in Corona. Prime Minister Lee Sen Loong’s party won 83 out of 93 seats. After the results were announced, Loong said, “I will use this mandate to deal with the epidemic and improve the economy.” The people of Singapore trusted me and the party, I am proud of it. ”
The opposition Walkers Party won 10 seats. This is the highest number of seats won by any party in the country so far. The party contested this election under the leadership of General Secretary Pritam Singh. Pritam will now be the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament. His party got four seats more than in 2015.
PAP has been in power since 1965
The PAP has been in power here since 1965. This time it got 61.24 percent votes. This is 8.7 percent less than the 2015 elections. Prime Minister Loong’s party received 69.9 percent of the vote in the last elections. Lee Sen Loong is the Prime Minister of Singapore since 2004. Lee is the son of Lee Kuan Yew, who founded Singapore.
11 Parties were in the ground
Eleven parties, including the People’s Action Party (PAP), contested. The PAP did not give tickets to any Indian-origin candidate in this election. Voting for the parliamentary election took place on Friday. During this time security measures were taken care of. People came to the polling booths to vote with masks on their mouths and gloves in their hands. Voting began at eight in the morning. Voting was to take place by eight o’clock in the first night, but later its time was extended by two hours.
